Loving The Season..

My favorite time of year; Fall. It never lasts long enough though. Its like a blink of the eye; all of a sudden you open your eyes and see all the color surrounding you, "oh, look at how the leaves have changed!". The sun shining upon them brings a brilliance of colors. The next moment "where did it all go?" And, its over for another year. The beautiful reds, orange, yellow, purples have blown away. And the cold moves in.

How I love October. With it's beautiful colors; its sunny days, cool nights and gentle breezes. So many when asked "Don't you just love autumn?" can only reply "no, because I know what will follow it" But I will gladly take what is to follow just to know this season. Knowing how short lived it is, I go into it always with my eyes wide open, not wanting to miss a moment of it. I love to watch the changes occur and I always look for those first colors to appear early in September, sometimes even at the end of August. But, October it comes alive fully. It is all just so perfect. And though, the winds and rains will come and take the last of them away, I love it all.

Last weekend, Barb and I drove around some and we ended up at this dam. Though, beautiful in it's colorful view, the peak is over now so their was not the brilliance there has been. Mostly the reds are gone but still, the day was perfect and I got some pictures to hold this fall's memory before its over. And here we are, Barb and I, on this quite isolated little road of the damn, and like always we not only find the enjoyment of what is around us but of being together; laughing and enjoying just being together. My best friend, she is. No wonder our birthdays are in October. We are both Opals; both Libras. And we both love this time of year. Sometimes it just amazes us to find and learn of our likenesses and we learn of more and more as time goes on. Just as it was meant to be.

Kim's Favorites

I am right up there on the list of favorites with Kim. After all, I got to go to her 40th birthday party and Poncho didn't! That says something right there.
But all kidding aside, (though I wasn't kidding), I've known Kim now for a good 40 years. She takes after me, in many ways...the good kid she always was. Actually, Kim and I were always pretty close. Infact, I lived with her for awhile when she was a little tot...and when she was a teen, I remember us writing to each other (old fashion style in those good ole days, stamps and all). She'd write and ask me much advice on things. She turned out quite well infact.
Well, now we have her 40th birthday party! My, how time flies. Little Kimberly is married now, has held onto her vehicle that she drives for almost a year now (she trades it in with the seasons), works hard for her money, and loves her horses, goats, dogs, cats, and I don't know what else she has by now. Though, I do know her horses, especially Poncho, is her love in life (and thats ok Kim, as long as you can come on vacation with us again for at least one night -bring Poncho if you have to).
This September 28th, Kim's party took place. Hard to keep a secret from her but her husband, Mom and family worked hard on it. She got to see a few friends that she has known since her elementary school days, that she hadn't seen for awhile. It was a beautiful, clear, sunny fall day and John, sure cooks good burgers!
So Kim, enjoy the pictures and memories of your 40th party. We love you (we love you more though than we love poncho, sorry).
~After all, this site, our family site, is about all parts of our lives, up's and down's, the good, the bad and the ugly........(The ugly will be my own birthday tomorrow, i can't keep up with mine anymore, they are going so fast now, they are getting away from me)

Its Kim's 40th Birthday Party!!

"I'm the birthday girl, and I can do anything I wanna!"

Pardo Kim!

Kim's cake, of course, of course with her horse of course!

A "remember when" for Kim...and I do remember her all the way up! She was an angel, just like her auntie Bev!

she will soon be passing me in her age if she keeps on getting older!

One of the group pictures; me, kim, Bill, Fire & Iron, of course, but where IS Poncho??

Autumn...

Finally, Autumn is here. My favorite time of the year, though we've not had much fall like weather. Its been in the 80's once again this week, a bit too hot for this time of year. Soon though, it will feel like fall. The nights have been cooler though and it's nice to sleep with the windows open and smell the crisp air. The leaves have been turning, some already falling from the trees. Barb and I have to get out and about to capture it all.

The pumkin in the picture was just recently picked. Grown by my husband, its the first pumpkin to actually make it; grow and become an actual pumkin. I went and bought a bunch of colorful mums last weekend for around the yard and will plant some this weekend.

My Mother's garden right now is becoming covered with the falling leaves and pine needles. Soon, it will be covered under the first frost, as our next season approaches; winter. Whenever I speak of my love for the Fall season, I am usually responded back with "Yeah, but we all know what comes after fall". I don't mind. I love the changes of seasons; all of them. I don't like to drive in snow or ice, but I do enjoy a big snow storm. Its beautiful and it's exciting, as long as I don't have to go out in it. It's beautiful to watch from the inside of your own, warm house.

There are many birthdays in the fall too. Kim just celebrated her big 40th. Soon I'll be posting the pictures of her party. My son's birthday is in just three days. Mine is the 9th and Barb's is the 13th. A good month October is. There is also two, three day weekends in October. And then we have Halloween to look forward to.

I haven't been apple picking yet, which is a great fun thing to do in the fall but I have been stopping at a farm a couple of times a week for mainly fresh apples. Just like the fresh, farm stand vegetables this summer, there is nothing better than fresh. Tomorrow, I'm bringing home made apple cider and homemade plain donuts into work for those in the group that I facilatate. I run a small group for those that I work with on Friday mornings and I asked them last week "what would you like me to plan or do for next week's group?" and they all quickly responded "Bring us in some apple cidar and plain donuts". So tomorrow morning, we'll cheer on a fall day together.

Fall goes by so quickly, and I truely try to watch each day for everything that it is. Every day it's changes are apparent. Almost with a blink of the eye, and it's over. We all look at each other and ask "what happened to fall?" One second here and the next, gone. The leaves become so quickly brilliant in golds, reds, oranges, yellows and with one of fall's rain and wind storms, it will take down with it what colorful leaves have not already fallen. And Autumn is done.

So don't miss a moment! Take a look around every day and watch the beautiful changes happen before your eyes as the seasons unfold from one to another.
